Leveraging the complementarity of the two solutions, the integration of the FieldView and xFarm platforms improves farmers' decision making through more effective use of their farm data
This partnership is in the context of new regulations that will emerge in relation to the Green Deal, helping farmers adopt more sustainable practices, as well as easier and more automatic tracking of their agronomic operations
Jan. 25, 2023 - FieldView and xFarm Technologies have partnered to connect their respective platforms. The goal is to make data sharing easier for farmers and help consolidate and simplify farming operations.
FieldView is Bayer's leading platform for digital agriculture. It helps farmers manage their farms more efficiently, from planting to harvest, thanks to information from satellites as well as related machinery and equipment. It is used on more than 80 million hectares in 23 countries around the world.
xFarm Technologies is a tech company that aims to digitize the agribusiness sector by providing innovative tools that can support agricultural entrepreneurs and stakeholders in managing their farms. xFarm Technologies supports the work of 140,000 farms belonging to more than 50 supply chains on 1.8 million hectares.
FieldView enables farmers to collect, visualize and analyze agronomic data. In addition, farmers can use their data to make better agronomic decisions and optimize operations through a prescription map generation system that allows them to perform defense, fertilization, and seeding operations by taking advantage of variable rate technology.
xFarm offers a comprehensive farm management solution that integrates machinery and sensor data, decision support systems, satellite imagery and other data sources, providing farmers with an all-in-one platform to optimize their day-to-day work.
The partnership will link the two platforms, allowing users to share data between their FieldView and xFarm accounts in real time. Farmers will be able to share their field boundaries and data on planting, harvesting and other operations. This will enable farmers to take advantage of complementary features, avoiding double data entry and using data from both platforms to improve the effectiveness of their agronomic practices with FieldView and optimize farm management with xFarm. In line with the Green Deal, increased sustainable practices, and digital traceability requirements, farmers will be able to use the automated data collection achieved through FieldView to document their farming activities at xFarm.
Farmers will retain full control of their data and will be the sole managers of the connection between the two platforms. They will be able to enable or disable the connection independently and at any time, as well as enable or disable the data exchange.
The partnership between FieldView and xFarm Technologies is global in scope, and data transfer can be activated by users in any country where both platforms are marketed. However, the partnership will begin in Spain and Italy, two countries where FieldView has been working successfully for years and xFarm Technologies has an established presence.
Matteo Vanotti, CEO of xFarm Technologies, says, "We are excited about this partnership because we are convinced that the integration between our platform and FieldView can make an important contribution to the digitization of agriculture and make farms in these two countries, which are in one of the areas most exposed to climate change and energy shocks, even more efficient, innovative and sustainable. The connectivity between xFarm and FieldView and the resulting data sharing will help the farmers who rely on us to face tomorrow's challenges with greater confidence."
Christine Brunel-Ligneau, EMEA Digital Farming Solution Customer Enablement Lead at Bayer CropScience, says, "Farmers are always interested in using field data to make decisions during the season. But until a few years ago they have struggled with two key aspects: collecting data from different sources and processing it so they can make operational decisions. We are very pleased with this partnership, which will offer farmers new ways to access and use their data more effectively."
