14 November 2024 - Technology and digitization are key to modernising agriculture and helping farmers make the transition to greater efficiency and sustainability, both environmentally and economically. That's why UNIA, the largest agricultural machinery manufacturer in Poland with 25,000 machines produced each year and 10,000 exported to 60 countries, and xFarm Technologies, a Swiss tech company and European leader in the digitalisation of agriculture, have announced their collaboration on a five-year project aimed at connecting UNIA's machinery and providing UNIA with a customised SaaS platform that will make the manufacturer’s machinery eligible for purchase with the Polish Agriculture 4.0 funds.
Machinery is one of the areas of the agricultural sector where innovation and progress is most visible, helping farmers by making their work easier and increasing productivity. Digitization and connected machinery offer important new, significant opportunities to improve agronomic management practices and sustainability, both environmentally and economically, for example through smarter use of inputs.
Thanks to the partnership with xFarm Technologies, UNIA will be able to connect all its machines, whether ISOBUS or not, to a customized SaaS platform. UNIA's machines will be equipped with specific packages for each machine, including both connectivity and agronomic DSS for nutrition, crop protection, precision farming, etc. Farmers will therefore be provided with a package that includesAI tools to support their agronomic management practices.
xFarm Technologies will organize training sessions with UNIA dealers so that they can convey the added value of UNIA products to farmers, helping them to work with the Agriculture 4.0 subsidies. The training will start in Poland and then continue internationally as well, to enable dealers in each country to help farmers adopt the new solutions in line with European subsidies. UNIA dealers will be also provided with a diagnostic platform, which will enable them and UNIA to provide even better remote support to farmers.
"I am very proud of this collaboration. This innovation will give farmers access to advanced digital technologies that will help them effectively optimise their farming operations. By integrating modern solutions, farmers will be able to better manage their resources and increase the efficiency and sustainability of their businesses," said Karol Czerwiak, Business Manager Poland at xFarm Technologies.
"UNIA is a key player in the Polish agricultural sector and a top exporter whose machinery is valued around the world. We are therefore very pleased to have the opportunity to support UNIA in this highly customised project, which will result in solutions that will be distributed on an international scale by UNIA dealers," said Pier Alberto Gobbo, Head of European Markets at xFarm Technologies.
The CEO of Unia Ltd., Michał Lange, emphasises that establishing a partnership with xFarm Technologies and leveraging the technological potential of both companies will accelerate the development of Unia's products towards innovative solutions in the field of Agriculture 4.0.
"Innovation and technological leadership are the foundations on which we build our organisation. Through our collaboration with xFarm Technologies, we will be able to help farmers meet the challenges of the 21st century by providing them with tools based on Agriculture 4.0 technology. Our goal is to shape the future of agriculture together, enabling effective and sustainable resource management and increasing competitiveness in the market," he said.
