LUGANO, 30th September 2024 - xFarmTechnologies, the leading pan-European tech company for the digitalisation of the agri-food industry, is implementing a highly customized project to further increase the efficiency of farm operations management at Dyson Farming, one of the largest farming businesses in the UK.
The three-year project consists of the digitization of over 33,600 acres through the design and implementation of a tailor-made platform. The platform will collect and process data for Dyson Farming's management and record keeping. The project will also include the connection of digital farm machinery and equipment to better keep track of their use and increase the efficiency.
With 36,000 acres of farmland in Lincolnshire, Oxfordshire, West Berkshire, Somerset and Gloucestershire, Dyson Farming is a large-scale farming business focused on sustainability and technology-led innovation. On the platform developed by xFarm Technologies, they have already registered nearly 1,000 fields, 3,700 acres of environmental features, more than 100 warehouses, and a fleet of over 250 machines, including tractors and equipment.
"Dyson Farming is incredibly advanced in the use of cutting-edge technology and focused on innovation, efficiency and sustainability, so we are especially proud to be their partner in this tailor-made project to make their operations management even more efficient," says Matteo Vanotti, CEO of xFarm Technologies. "We are extremely proud to enter the UK market with such an ambitious project. As a company founded by farmers for farmers, we at xFarm Technologies understand that the work of a farm is way more complex than one might think. Luckily, innovative technologies allowing data collection can be extremely helpful in making farm management easier and more effective. That's why our R&D team, our AI engineers and data scientists work every day to develop hardware and software solutions that enable us to support companies in the agri-food sector in every aspect of their work."
"The digital transformation of our farm management system is essential to support our ongoing efforts to produce more nutritious and sustainable British food, grown in harmony with the environment." commented Daniel Cross, MD of Dyson Farming.
Ben Abell, Head of Agronomy at Dyson Farming, added that "By implementing xFarm, we will be able to make more informed decisions and provide full traceability for our consumers. This will ensure that every grain, root or berry of the 100,000 tonnes of food we produce each year can be traced back to the place it was grown, bringing transparency to the delicious food we eat, and the ability to share the data and evidence of the nature and environmental improvements incorporated into its production."
The project started in August, with official go-live in mid-September, and will involve in total 70 Dyson Farming operators and 3 teams from xFarm Technologies. It was officially presented by the two companies during the World Agri-tech Innovation Summit, held in London on 30 September.
