From landing in 2022 to integrating the extremity Greenfield Technologies in 2024, the Iberian Peninsula remains strategic for xFarm Technologies' growth. By partnering with farms, machinery manufacturers, and supply chains throughout Spain (and Portugal), the tech company continues to develop services to increase the sustainability and competitiveness of farms and the agribusiness industry as a whole, and offers AI-intensive solutions to support those working in the field.

Badajoz, June 3, 2025 - It has been three years since xFarm Technologies, the Swiss tech company that is a leader in the digitization of European agriculture and also very active in South America, has landed in Spain to offer even greater support to farms and the agribusiness sector on the Iberian Peninsula. Through its proprietary platform, which provides DSSDecision Support Systems) and agronomic models based on AI and its established expertise in agronomy, xFarm Technologies works alongside farms and agribusinesses to increase the economic and environmental sustainability of their operations and the added value of their products. Today, the technology company supports the work of more than 500,000 farms along with an ecosystem of more than one hundred large enterprises over a total area of more than 8.6 million hectares worldwide, and is also active in other key European and global agribusiness markets, such as Poland, France, Italy, The United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, and Brazil.

However, Spain boasts its largest team (40 people) after Switzerland and Italy "This is no coincidence. Spain is a pillar of the European agribusiness sector and an export powerhouse, suffice it to say that last year it set a new historical record for its exports in the sector, the value of which exceeded 75 billion euros. For its part, Portugal is known worldwide for products of the highest standard. Both countries are increasingly establishing themselves as reference points for innovation in agribusiness, particularly in precision agriculture, thanks to vital and well-established innovation ecosystems," explains Pier Alberto Gobbo, recently appointed Country Manager Iberia for xFarm Technologies, who had already overseen the Iberian market launch with the local team in 2022.

The Iberian Peninsula has been and is strategic for the growth of the tech company, which here, in addition to supporting the activities of individual farms, has signed partnerships with key players in innovation for the Iberian field and theagribusiness industry. In addition, the company collaborates with top universities and research centers in I+D+I projects to continue to develop services and technological solutions that can make farmers' lives easier, increase productivity and sustainability, and promote the traceability of agricultural products.

It was in Spain that xFarm Technologies took a key step in its growth. Last year, in fact, the integration of Greenfield Technologies, a company with headquarters in Badajoz and more than a decade of experience in developing and providing services for soil characterization and crop monitoring. Together, the two companies are helping to make the agribusiness industry in Spain and Portugal even more resilient, competitive and sustainable by offering farmers a wide range of new, technology-intensive solutions to address the major challenges facing the field, from climate change to generational turnover. One example of this is precisely the soil characterization services offered by Greenfield Technologies, which enable farmers to gain in-depth knowledge of their soils and their health status, and make better decisions for more efficient management of their fields.

The Iberian Peninsula is an example of the momentous challenges facing the agricultural sector, especially in Mediterranean countries, and how ingenuity, knowledge and collaboration can be decisive factors in finding solutions to those challenges and identifying increasingly sustainable practices through digitization and new technologies. "Hers is a key innovation ecosystem for the agriculture and agribusiness revolution globally, so we are very proud to be part of it," Gobbo notes.
