Founder Matteo Vanotti: "Farms in Spain and Portugal are becoming increasingly aware of Agriculture 4.0 opportunities. Our technological know-how helps 90,000 farms in Europe and around the world every day to become more efficient and save energy, water and other inputs. The opening of the office in Barcelona aims to offer a closer service to our customers in the Iberian region, with a very high degree of innovation."
Barcelona, April 26--The agricultural sector in Spain and Portugal is an important source of wealth and employment, with immense growth potential, benefiting not only the two countries but also the economy and food security of the whole of Europe.
That is why xFarm, a technology company specializing in the digitization of agriculture, which already offers its services to 90,000 farms throughout Europe and the world with a total of one million hectares tracked, has decided to offer even more support to Spanish and Portuguese farms by opening a new office in Barcelona. The country manager, Nicola Franco, has more than 10 years of experience leading companies in the sector in Spain, and will lead a local team of agronomists and digital agriculture specialists to accompany the Iberian peninsula towards Agriculture 4.0.
"Spain and Portugal are two pillars of the European agribusiness sector that are increasingly crucial to the well-being of our continent, as the current geopolitical situation shows," said xFarm founder Matteo Vanotti, visiting the new Barcelona headquarters. "Spanish and Portuguese farmers are increasingly attentive to the opportunities of Agriculture 4.0, but they also face major challenges: for example, drought and recent frosts, increasingly complex bureaucracy, and consumer demand for increasingly conscious use of inputs, especially phytosanitary products.
After years of significant growth in Europe and around the world, which have seen it collaborate with major global companies such as Lavazza (for the digitization of the coffee supply chain) and SAME Deutz-Fahr (for the development of new digital services for the agricultural machinery manufacturing industry), the technology company xFarm, created "by farmers for farmers," is ready to strengthen its presence in the Iberian market and support farms on the Iberian Peninsula in their modernization journey.
"Our application allows all bureaucratic and agronomic aspects of agriculture to be managed intelligently, enabling entrepreneurs in the sector to work better and more efficiently," Vanotti explains. "In Europe and around the world, 90,000 farms have already chosen us and, by taking advantage of our technologies, they are able to produce more while consuming less water, energy, etc. The opening of the Barcelona office aims to offer a service closer to the needs of our customers on the Iberian Peninsula, with a very high degree of innovation."
According to Nicola Franco, director of xFarm Iberia, "It is a great honor to be able to support Spanish and Portuguese farmers, who every day provide their respective countries and the world with excellent products such as olive oil, fruits, vegetables, and wine, among others, which have made their agri-food industries world-renowned. With our technological solutions they will be able to be even more sustainable and competitive."
xFarm will be at FIMA, HALL 4, STAND E/1, to present its technology solutions. It will also participate in a technical day on Friday 29 to present a specific use case of its technology applied to fruit farming.
