Digital Field Notebook: from complex operation to opportunity

The Digital Field Notebook may seem like yet another obstacle for the farmer, further complicating the conduct of his or her business. However, with the right tools, going digital can prove to be an opportunity for simplification.

xFarm was developed to allow any type of activity carried out on the farm to be recorded: from tillage, fertilization, irrigation, and treatments. Specifically, for each activity it is possible to indicate the field involved, the duration, the operator involved, and any products used.

What transactions should be recorded in the Digital Field Notebook?

Within the Digital Field Notebook, the farmer will have to enter some information already required in the past for filling out the paper version, and other new information provided instead within the digital version. Here is the information to be entered and how xFarm can help you:  

• Pesticide treatments: you need to enter the date and time when the treatment was performed, the product used, the pathogen controlled, and the mode of distribution. Find out how to do it in the tutorial!  

• Seed treatments: again, you need to enter the date and time of the treatment, how it was carried out, and the amount of seed involved.

• Chemical fertilization and organic fertilization: the type of product used and how it was distributed should be entered.  

• Irrigation and fertigation: mode and area involved should be specified.

• Warehouse: you need to indicate the type of products in your warehouse. It's that easy with our Warehouse Module!  

• Crop rotation: you need to indicate the type of crop present in a plot, identify the plot and the phenological stages of the crop. So that you don't forget anything, you can use the feature found in app

• Machinery: agricultural machinery used for processing with its Checks functional and maintenance status should be indicated. Here, too , app xFarm comes to your aid!

• Operators: it is necessary to indicate the master data of the operators involved in the workings, including any professional qualifications. With xFarm it's that easy!

What happens if I make mistakes?

One of the most widespread fears with the advent of the Digital Field Notebook is the risk of heavy penalties if mistakes are made in compilation. That is why we have developed tools to avoid this unpleasant situation, protecting the farmer as much as possible.

Using the Warehouse Module, it is possible to automatically upload all purchase notesfor plant protection products, so that you have an overview of all stored goods, with automatic updates at base to products taken to perform a particular processing or treatment, simply by recording it in the appropriate form.

With the Data and Dosage Form you can keep all plant protection product label information at your fingertips, including spectrum of action, registration date and expiration date, target crop, safety data sheets and datasheet.  

But that's not all: you can also use the Module Checks, which will check the correct use of each product, alerting you in case of errors, whether you are operating under conventional, integrated pest management or organic.
