Milan, March 31, 2025 - Two by two four: these are the probes that have been sinking for two years into the soils of the bamboo groves in Castiglione della Pescaia (GR) and Sovicille (SI) of Forever Bambù Società Benefit, a leading giant bamboo planting company with organic and symbiotic agriculture, thanks to a partnership with xFarm Technologies, signed in 2023, for a new comparative study.
xFarm Technologies, a digital partner working in the world of data collection in agriculture has created a double pair of probes in the soil on which Forever Giant Bamboo plants root. These high-tech devices are able to talk to a weather station that collects data on rain, wind, temperatures and any weather event. The interaction between these elements produces what is known as "irrigation advice," which is precisely a suggestion that is sent digitally to the irrigation system and commands it to irrigate the fields-or abstain-with extreme precision, always targeting the well-being and growth of the plants, optimizing and reducing water use.
Commented Mauro Lajo, CEO of Forever Bamboo: "A smart irrigation system designed by us was already in place in our bamboo groves, which along with water delivered fertilizers and organic nutrients to better support growth. It was sensational to find that almost immediately the probes enabled us to further modify the irrigation system used, reducing by 70 percent the amount of water, which was clearly not optimally used before while maintaining the same rate of growth of the stems. For those of us who believe in a better world, without waste and with less and less emissions and more greenery, this aspect is also crucial. And this will apply, to tendency, to each of our bamboo groves and to those, very new ones, that have just begun to grow in the soils of enlightened companies, as in the case of Brugola in Muggiò."
"Our role is exactly that: to accompany our partners toward increasingly prudent resource management. We do this by combining important research and development work with our technology." - adds Alessandro Bucciarelli, Head of Agronomic Products & R&D at xFarm Technologies, a tech company specializing in digital in agriculture that supports more than 500 thousand farmers over an area of more than 8 million hectares. - "Specifically, with our management software, a network of sensors in the field, and the analyses that our team of agronomists and engineers produce, we help farmers and supply chains adopt increasingly sustainable agricultural practices. The successful collaboration with a visionary player like Forever Bamboo goes exactly in this direction."
