Milan, Sept. 16, 2025 - Everyone knows the Plasmon cookie. It has been an icon of Italian childhood for generations. That familiar scent, the texture designed for the first bites, the delicate and reassuring taste. Along with baby food and other baby products, it is part of the everyday life of so many families. But behind that simplicity that makes it so beloved, there is a complex and articulated, high-tech and meticulously controlled supply chain, built to ensure safe and sustainable foods, right from their origin: the field.
This is the origin of Plasmon's project in collaboration with xFarm Technologies, aimed at the complete digitization of the soft and durum wheat supply chain used in the production of dry baby foods, such as cookies and pastries. The goal is ambitious but concrete: to improve crop monitoring, reduce environmental impact by 30 percent and define a sustainability specification to be extended to the entire supply chain.
Today, more than 80 farms between Emilia-Romagna and Umbria-along with 100 percent of the mills and cooperatives in the Plasmon supply chain-use the xFarm digital platform to track every stage of the crop cycle: from tillage to sowing, from fertilization to harvesting. The system makes it possible to collect and analyze real data directly from the field, providing farmers with tools to better manage resources, improve the quality of production and increase efficiency, including environmental considerations.
With this data-also integrated with sensors in the field-Plasmon can go beyond simple estimates and be based on hard numbers, promoting the most sustainable agricultural practices. This is coordinated through the xFarm Analytics platform, which returns a clear and up-to-date view of what is happening in each field, benefiting the entire supply chain.
Domenico Brugnoni, a farmer and president of the ProAgri cooperative, tells what growing wheat for Plasmon means today: "Thanks to the collaboration with xFarm Technologies we can manage the farm at 360 degrees: we monitor the weather, we avoid bureaucratic errors, and above all we have everything under control. It is a complexly designed but easy-to-use tool that is revolutionary for those who work the land."
Also Valeria Sannipoli, field agronomist technician, is part of the change: "By digitizing the supply chain, we can record in real time all the activities that are carried out on the various farms. In addition, we are able to predict weather patterns in the near future and thus make more targeted decisions for crop health. All this allows us to obtain a higher quality end product, with less waste."

From the choice of fields to the finished product, every step is monitored, tracked and constantly improved. With this project, Plasmon demonstrates that even the simplest products-those that have inspired confidence for generations-are the result of extraordinary work that starts from the earth and looks to the future, respecting children and the world they will inherit.
