Today we take you on a tour of the Malgieri farm, a business run by Tarquinio Malgieri and family members, which works a total of 700 hectares between owned and contracted land. The farm uses xFarm, and in particular telemetry, to keep track of vehicle activity and maintenance.
Malgieri Farm is located in the countryside of Ascoli Satriano, in the province of Foggia. We manage about 500 hectares for third parties and 200 hectares of our own property, cultivated mainly with cereals and vegetables.
Dealing with a large cultivated area and several employees, we felt there was a lack of a tool that could facilitate the management of processing, storage, and even employees.
As ours is a company that has always focused on digitization and optimization, I have always been interested in these topics. About 4 years ago I came across an article about the then newly formed xFarm, an Italian startup aiming at the digitization of agriculture. Right from the start we believed in the project and embarked on a path of growth together with the company.
From the very first moment we began to use free functions such as warehouse management, activity planning, and cultural rotation scheduling. Lately we have decided to implement sensoristics so as to control more and more parameters in daily activities.
Having a large fleet of vehicles, telemetry is a very useful tool for monitoring the location and activities of various vehicles from the comfort ofapp. In addition, we take advantage of telemetry to monitor the working hours of each vehicle and manage maintenance without the risk of forgetting about it by setting a certain number of hours before servicing and receiving an alert when the threshold is reached.
Another very important aspect of xFarm is the excellent customer service. Should I have a problem or a proposal to improveapp, customer service is always ready to take my opinion and discuss it quickly and find the best solution.
I would recommend xFarm to all companies that want to digitize and need a tool through which you can easily and effectively manage your company 360 degrees.
At a time when climate change is becoming more and more real and droughts are putting crops at risk, technology is helping farms fight against waste to be more productive, especially in our areas, where drought is becoming a recurring problemwhich you can manage your farm all-around easily and effectively.
We would definitely like to bring telemetry into all our vehicles and equipment since we believe in this technology so much. In addition, we hope to implement other sensor technology such as weather stations and soil moisture sensors in our farm to have even more effective monitoring of what is happening on the farm.
